Do you ever stop to think about how light during the day changes the colours we see in shadow and shade?

‘Stunning shapes from shadow’ – a one-day watercolour workshop with Perth-based artist and watercolour teacher, Marion Luck, gave local artists the opportunity to learn and play with new techniques.  After discussions on the materials, and on colour and light changes throughout the day, the artists got down to work and explored the interplay of colours on a white rose.

As it turns out, a white rose isn’t just a white rose! Playing with colour washes and direct colour produced some stunning results and several of the participants were surprised with what they were able to produce in just a few short hours –

“I’ve tried watercolours before, but this was the first time I have actually ‘got it’!”

Everybody managed to walk away with their finished watercolour and some new tips and techniques under their belt.  An enjoyable day all round!
