Having spent the first week of class studying the cultural significance of Totem Poles, their form and design, our students began designing a Totem Pole to reflect aspects of their own lives. The Totem Poles are made from recyclable materials and are measured to the exact height of the artist at the commencement of the class.
As Native American’s use animals to reflect family members, gender and cultural significance, so too do the pieces that our young artist’s have created, with the odd lollipop, ice cream cone and cupcake featuring.
The artist’s will be exhibiting their work in early December at the ARtS SPACE.
