Marijke Tromp’s opening exhibition at the NEXIS Gallery on Friday evening was an inspiring, exciting affair as she greeted almost everyone who walked through the doors. The interest and comments from the public attendees excelled expectation and within a very short time of opening, ‘red dots’ were appearing alongside the exhibits, as sold.
Her passion for her craft was evident during conversation, as she explained in detail how she achieved the finished products and where her inspiration came from. Interestingly, the Pilbara and surrounding areas seemed to have the biggest impact artistically, displaying her inner love of the land.
A rare thing was the encouragement to touch and feel the fabric of the garments/exhibits, made mostly from wool and silk, which made the overall experience incredibly tactile and sumptuous.
It is a most enjoyable and interesting event, not to be missed.
Marijke will be in attendance throughout the exhibition.
