The Alternative Archive: Common Ground is a part of an exciting, state-wide series of interconnected group exhibitions, as part of the Connect to the Creative Grid project, through the Regional Arts Partnership Program (RAPP), supported by the State Government and Country Arts WA.

Local artists were invited to create a contemporary visual archive or archival process of an aspect of the Narrogin/Dryandra region, drawn from personal relationships with the people, places and stories around them.

This project provided the opportunity for artists to interrogate and engage with local archives in numerous ways 1) visually retelling existing stories; 2) engage with the archival process in the creation of a new archive that responded to the personal or collective impact of people, events or stories within the community; or 3) visually highlight an aspect of the community that was unrecorded – either fact or fiction.
